The American Tiny House Association has put guidelines on what is considered a tiny home. A tiny home must be 400 square feet or less. Some tiny homes have as little as 70 square feet. One step up from a tiny house is a small house. A small house is anything between 400 and 1,000 square feet. When you compare this to the average American house size of 2,700 square feet it is easy to see why people are intrigued with this lifestyle. Another reason that draws people to choose a tiny home is because it is more environmentally friendly. Tiny homes use less energy because it does not take as much to heat, cool, and light a smaller space. Many people that are environmentally conscious are choosing to join the tiny house movement to decrease their carbon footprint as much as possible.
